Retour en haut Geographical situation

Vineyard of Cognac in integrated agriculture. Situated about twenty kilometers from Cognac, near the Atlantic coast, the Domaine de Birius vineyard benefits from an ideal climate (maximum sun and light summer rains). It stretches over 23 hectares of Petite Champagne which soil consists of friable limestones. These favorable conditions enable our type of vines, such as Ugni blanc, Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet to express an exceptional quality in this privileged soil.

Retour en haut History

Over time and for more than ten generations, men and women in love with this soil-type have passed on their savoir-faire (skill) to their descendants.
Today, led by the same passion, Anne and Philippe Bouyer want to share with you the wealth of this unique region : the limestone sloping vineyard of the Domaine de Birius. In order to maximise the experience, in 1999 they started selling bottles direct to visitors. With the combination of today's traditions and those of their ancestors, they have created a wide range of Cognac, Pineau des Charentes, Country wine, Sparkling wine, Brûlot Charentais... as well as liquors made with Cognac and natural aromas of fruit.

Retour en haut Quality

All these products, from a vineyard using an integrated agriculture ,are made up with the best care; at each step, they are the focus of a strict quality control according to the food safety standards. (HACCP method)

Retour en haut Stone

Previously, we dealt with the importance of the limestone in the region. This stone is the material that Jack Bouyer (Philippe's father), a retired vinegrower and voluntary self-educated sculptor (nicknamed the « Vitisculpteur Saintongeais ») uses to carve faces of the famous, and not so famous people who have marked the region's history. Some of his creations can be seen in the sculpture garden of the Domaine de Birius. Another of his works, symbolized on our bottles, represents the « dame aux yeux bandés ».
